I like the BBC GOOD FOOD 101 Books. They cast about £5 and have quite easy recipes.
The ones I have are
101 Seasonal Salads
101 Cakes and Bakes
101 Simple Suppers - good one for quick evening food.
101 Low Fat Feasts
101 Tempting Desserts
101 Cheap Eats
101 One Pot Dishes.
BBC do a magazine called W Easy Cook £2.40 every three months I think which features quick easy recipes using basic foods.
PS I am not a sale rep for BBC publications! :D |

These are my favourites too, they are fantastic and have ideas for every occasion.
I also love Nigella Lawson and Gordon Ramsey's books but I suppose they are not really basic.
