what would you suggest

we were talking to someone yesterday ,who has just come into the family long story ,but she cannot cook ,at all ,i mean heat beans in from a tin ect ,apart from bacon she had never tasted  pork or lamb,to be honest i was shocked ,any body got any suggestions to start her cooking ,i'm going to send a cooking timer to make timing easier
she tried mint sauce for the first time yesterday,it would be lovely to encourage her to cook and she said she'd be interested to learn ,but really lacks confidience any receipes that would be really easy,i could send her

Blimey Suz...not sure I have an answer.  How old is said person??

There must be some very simple cook books on the market.

I was given one for a wedding present over 30 years ago, that had some very basic recipes in.  I bet it is out of date now...but I shall look.

Love is Cookbook

I found the Delia books great when I didn't know how to do the basic stuff... I think they're called How to Cook!

i could send her mine  q18 ,i was thinking sending the stuff for rice crispy cakes so her and the children could have a go ,but she has to try roast pork  q14 even with bottled apple sauce

It's a good job I have just eaten, I love roast pork and apple sauce  q12

right now i would kill for a roast pork and apple sandwich going to have to go as i have the munchies and I think that I have the best sweetcorn in the world calling to me (would still love a hot pork and apple sandwich though  q2 )
as for cooking how about starting her on soups or roasted veggies ??

Agree with Jo that Delia is a good starting point. I'm astonished that anyone can get to 31 without cooking anything-or indeed, without eating much either. Food-both eating and preparing-is such a pleasure. How sad to have not experienced any of it.

What worries me even more is that there appears to be children as well, do they live on fast food, take away or ready made warm up meals.  q25  q25
milkmaid

i'm not sure i think ready made warm up meals ,we have been sending recipes to the children ,so they can cook with mum and use grandads recipes q3 ,i think she is getting a bit more confident q15
thank you for all your help q17
