What shall I cook for my date?

Yes I have a date this Saturday and I am cooking... I just have no idea what to cook!!

He doesn't like lamb and allergic to blackberrys... but anything else is fine.

I need some recommendations, something not too difficult and that doesn't need me to go out and buy a load of fancy ingredients.

I have all the usual stuff in the store cupboard give or take a few things...

Your help would be appreciated!!!!  q3

What about the Risotto you made some months ago?

Or sausage, mash, onions and gravy.....spruce up mash with some finely chopped spring onions...or, grain mustard.

If I know men, they tend to appreciate the basic meat and 2 veg type meal, or the comfort foods of their childhood.

Why don't you ask him what he would like.

I did ask him and he suggested bacon or sausage sarnie... really helpful!!  q5

I was thinking about risotto but thought that might be a bit too rich... maybe I'll check with him.

What about something warm and comforting like a shepherds or cottage pie, going on your mums suggestion of men and meat and three veg...  q12

Shepherds Pie, Cottage Pie, Fish Pie...all can be made in advance, and then reheated in the oven, after a night in the fridge.  I'd definitely make something in advance, and then you can decide when to eat it, and not be stuck to the kitchen for long.

Good plan people... I have most of the ingredients for cottage/shepherds pie so might do that on Friday!!  q3

I have beef mince, is that cottage of shepherds?
lauzc

It's cottage pie...
