Tomato Sauces for PastaAs I will be living on this for another 2 weeks I thought maybe some of you can give me some ideas for something a bit different...
I have herbs/spices at home and will buy some mushrooms and bacon on the way home tonight, I also have onions and garlic at home!
I usually do garlic, onions, mushrooms and salt/pepper with a tin of chopped tomatoes... not even sure there are any alternatives?!!

It would be a really good idea to make up a large amount, so will save you doing it each time.
I push the tomatoes through a seive to leave the pips and skin behind, it takes some doing, but makes a nicer sauce.
Then, like you, I chuck in loads of seasoning, garlic, basil, tomato puree.
Simmer for 20 mins to reduce and thicken the sauce.

I don't have a sieve!
I might make a big batch over the weekend... having chicken korma tonight!

Oh dear. It's the pips that make it more bitter.

Grating some cheese over the top is good. And if you do it as a pasta bake , that gives a bit of variety. You can get value tins of tuna from tesco, for I think about 30p, so that would add a bit of variety too. Sweetcorn?

Any left over chicken can be added too.
