The Sheep's Heid, Duddingston Village, EdinburghFormerly our local, I was really keen to return and see if it was as nice as it used to be-and it was! An absolute treasure trove of a pub, tucked away adjacent to the Queens Park. It's worth going simply to look at the memorabilia on the walls! Brian snapped this, and is calling it, "One old goat watching another old goat"
We went twice, the first time I had poached haddock in a mustard sauce. Absolutley delicious, accompanied by some very fresh veg. Brian had a steak pie-which covered half the plate-but he ate it all! Second time I again opted for fish-finnan haddie, in a cheese sauce-again delicious, but the accompanying veg were disappointing this time around. Brian had lasagne, which was pronounced "nice" but nothing special. A noticeable difference from when we'd ate there midweek:having said that, the excellence of what we'd had a few days earlier had probaly spoiled us a little!
Hector the westie popped his head around to say hello, but realising we already had one "starving" dog with us, returned to his spot by the fire.A lovely pub, in beautiful area-the plaque below tells it better than I do
