The Lime Tree, Limavady, Northern IrelandMy wife and I often visit the north coast of Northern Ireland, and we discovered this little gem of a restaurant a few months ago.
Run by Stanley and Maria Matthews. it is a small restaurant with a very homely feel. There aren't many tables so booking is essential. The atmopshere is cosy but sophisticated. The main thing about it though, and the reason we have been back several times, is the utterly wonderful food, deftly and expertly cooked by Stanley. Their forte is seasonal local produce, including fantastic lamb, beef and fish dishes. Their braised oxtail is superb, and their lamb tajine takes some beating. My wife says that their stciky toffee pudding is the best she's ever tasted!
Service is excellent too, with Maria taking charge front of house. Friendly and approachable, she is everything you would want in a maitress d. The wine list is extensive but not expensive too.
If any Northern Ireland forum membrs are ever anywhere near Limavady, I would strongly recommend a visit. You won't regret it!
