My Veg Garden!

Finally got it started... what with the move I was hoping to start it in my new flat, but that's mucked that idea up!

Anyway wicked step mother and dad came over today with some bits and pieces and a little mini greenhouse for me...

Here's some pics - http://www.facebook.com/album.php...4998&l=29e3c&id=633161720

I have the following:

2 x cherry tomato plants (been nurturing for a few weeks)
Container with charlotte potatoes
Container with runner beans (from Mum)
Growbag with courgettes
Small pots with more beans and courgettes (back-up ones)
A tray with basil, coriander, plum tomatoes and little gem lettuce

Hopefully something will work, this is my first ever attempt at growing veg, so fingers crossed.  q5

Will probably get myself a strawberry plant at some point too.

Well done-bet it will all taste wonderful. We don't have much success with strawberries-Rosie picks the ripest ones for eating!

It'll be brilliant having some of your own veg Jo, and the only way to learn is to do it.  Not sure the potato container will be deep enough, but you can probably transfer in the next 4 weeks reasonably safely.

I've been doing a bit of gardening this evening, covering up my potato shoots, and cutting back some of the raspberry canes.  Also some weeding.  It was nice to spend an hour out there once it had cooled down this evening.

Sounds like your strawberries are a great success Elaine.....for Rosie  q5  q5

Not sure about the potatoes, but will see how I get on as the shoots come through...

get some hanging baskets on the fence mix water saving gel with the compost grow lettuce try the pick and come again, rocket and herbs keep sowing so you can have a succession climbing beans are good too french beans do not go as strigy as runners

cut the bottom off a bucket or container that is slightly smaller than your potato pot , jam it in and fill fill soil as the spuds come through , you will get a much bigger crop , I filled up the legs of some old jeans with soil and strung them along the fence for toms and stuck a length of gutter up (capped at either end) filled with compost and scatter with your cut and come again leaves its brilliant and the slugs dont get at it !!

Very clever Lesley  q5  q5

I like the gutter idea.
