Melting chocolate question?

I quite fancy melting my white chocolate tonight and pouring it over my vanilla ice cream, how would I melt the chocolate? Over water or just in a saucepan?

Over water-or put it in the microwave on low for 30secs or so.

over a pan of boiling water would be the easiest way that avoids any chance of you burning the chocolate or yourself......should take no more than a few minutes depending on the quantity but seeing as how it sounds as though you're only having a little shouldn't take long at all hon....

I always use the microwave. We do this Jo. Sometimes we melt a bowlful of chocolate and dips chunks of fruit into it. Yum yum.

Hope you enjoyed your ice cream treat! :D

an easy way to make a quick choc sauce for the kids is mix drinking choc with just enough boiling water to mix serve with ice cream or banana splits

heres a tip for a less rich chocolate sauce-place a pan of boiling water on stove (not too much) about a 1/3 full and add about 1/2 -3/4 amount of sugar to it;when boiling add plenty of chocolate and whisk till all melted-might have to add more chocolate till u get the consistency you want and amount will vary on how good the choccy is but this gives you a perfect choccy sauce of the kind used on say profiteroles etc...once this is made, can be stored in fridge and when u want it again just melt it a little in microwave.....this might be better than just melted choc for you jo....

Is this the kind that doesn't set Sparky? My ex-mother in law was famous for her choccy sauce as it didn't set on ice cream. She was (is) a marvellous cook.
sparkymarky

well-it firms up when put in fridge but doesn't totally set-depends on how thick n how much choccy you put in it......

Great, will definitely try that. Thanks for the tip Sparky 8)
