Holiday time...

....is nearly here! We're off to Yorkshire tomorrow for 2 weeks, so won't be around much-if at all! I'm taking my laptop, but am not too hopeful of intenet reception. But, I'll need it for my games (adore p.c. games, like "Caesar", "Black and White"), and have been known to spend hours at a time engrossed. Just taking the laptop in case it rains, you understand-and in case we read our way through the holdall full of books I've packed!
Hopefully not much cooking for a while too!

Have a lovely holiday Elaine, hopefully when you get back I will be fully functional again... enjoy the books and games, hope it doesn't rain too much!

We had a big thunderstorm last night, first one I've heard in ages!!

Where will you be staying I am going over to Harrogate next week to get some retail therapy in Leeds and York and maybe get over to friends in Scarborough, Gods own country so wherever I'm sure you will have a good time !

We'll be in Midlleham gilly-a fantastic little village in Wensleydale. On Sunday we're meeting friends for lunch near Harrogate-at "The Boar's Head"" in Ripley Castle.Worth a visit, if you haven't been before, as the food is excellent.
So looking forward to our time in Gods own county-it's well named. Enjoy your retail therapy!

Yes I know it well we have a house just down the road that side of Harrogate , Ripley ice cream is to die for especially the Yoghurt ones !Forbidden Corner is well worth the visit if you have children with you I plan to take the Grandchildren again soon! Enjoy your holiday !:)

We know Ripley ice-cream well! Forbidden for me now though, as I have intolerances to dairy. Brymor is another firm favourite-especially the strawberry cheescake, which I remember well....The advantage to going to the Brymor ice-cream parlour, which is only minutes from Middleham, is that I can have a sorbet, and so don't feel too left out!
We went to Forbidden Corner a few years ago-what a fantastic day out, and a clever idea too.

Have a good holiday Elaine.

I played Black and White for ages.........but ended up with RSI providing endless food and wood. I gave it to some visitors recently.

Bit late to wish you a happy holiday - so when you get back hope you had a good relaxing time, plenty of pc games, books, etc. etc.

I hope you had a good holiday despite the weather ! I had an horrendous journey back here last Friday the usual road was closed due to landslip, on the detour I drove through loads of large puddles and 3 floods ,the journey would normally take less than 2 hours took me 3 hours !! I was cold and shattered when I finally got home. We ate out at the Pine Marten on Otley Road(Harrogate)it has changed hands the food is lovely and they do sharing plates like meze Mmmmm ! and Betty's now run the cafe at the Harlow Carr Gardens (RHS) so 2 good places to eat very close to each other.

You're having terrible weather up there, I hope you're all keeping safe, and yes, that you had a safe journey home Elaine.

We had an incredible holiday, and were quite lucky somehow to miss a lot of the weather. The worst day was the first Friday, when we really couldn't get out at all, but other than that, the rain seemed to arrive in our neck of the woods overnight  It was amazing that we seemed to miss most of it during the day, although some of the roads were pretty bad when we went out after a nightlong downpour.
Fortunately, neither of us are particularly keen on hot weather, so the fact that it was cooler than normal for June was a bonus. Lots of great days out, met up with friends, and had some other friends staying at the cottage with us for the middle weekend.
Also had some nice pub lunches-prefer to eat at lunchtime, than in the evening. The typical Yorkshire sized portions didn't defeat me-but the portion of veggies (carrots, broccoli and cabbage) with a chicken curry one day, was beyond me. The curry was nice though!
Will do a review or two when I've got more time.
