Hard Boiled Eggs

I was taught, that fo you cool the eggs in running cold water for 10 minutes, you wouldn't get the dark line around the egg yolk.

Of course, this was before we had hosepipe bans and water shortages.

I was told it is the gas , sulphur ? that turns it black so you have to crack the shell which is what I do and I don't remember having a ring around the yolk for yonks but maybe just luck ?? I love egg mayonaise sandwiches :)

If you just leave them in a bowl of cold water for 10 minutes it works too and saves on the water!

What I was told by running under cold water or leaving in cold water is that it will make the egg shell easier to peel off.

Especially if you crack the shells first.
