Vitamin c is usually good(ie, lots of fresh orange juice). Hope you feel better soon.

Blackberry Vinegar (thankyou George)
Place berries in a crock and cover with malt vinegar; let stand 3 days to draw out juice; place in strainer and allow to drip all day; measure juice and add 1 lb sugar per each pint of juice; place in kettle (pan) and boil gently for 5 minutes, removing scum as it appears; set aside to go cold; bottle and cap; to use, combine 1 tsp of the vinegar to 1 glass of water to drink.
And of course, once my jelly bag arrives, I'll be able to make you some.

We swear by echinacea .....Oh gets horrendous colds, not just snifles but real man flu everytime.......don't even ask about the chucking up bits .
since we've discovered echinacea .....taken as soon as a hint of a cold is felt, he's sailed thourgh them, gets rid of them in a couple of days rather than suffering for a couple of weeks.
We now keep a very large bottle at home

I could have done with either of the above this week. I have a stinking cold, but never did make the Blackberry Vinegar (completely forgot, despite having loads of this years balckberry's in the freezer).
I will write myself a note to make some when I am better and bottle it ready for next time.

I took high strength echineaca this time when I had the flu and it didn't really help to be honest... my manager swears by it though, maybe I'm immune!

How about lemon juice, honey and glycerine topped up with hot water. (in proportions to suit).
Great for sore throats, tastes quite nice and may be made more potent by grating in a little fresh ginger, (and if a goodly tot of rum is added - it is almost worth having a cold!).
Hope you feel better shortly, but then as the original post was in October - if you don't it is time to see a Doctor!
Regards,
White
