Flapjack or similar recipe?I want to make a big batch of something which I can eat on my way home from work... something that will keep my hunger at bay but also not start my IBS off!! I was thinking something flapjack like, maybe not too nutty as sometimes I am sensitive to them... maybe something with chocolate?
Does anyone have a recipe they can post?

Ingredients
75g of butter or margarine
50 - 75g light brown sugar
1 tablespoon of golden syrup
175g of porridge oats
Baking Directions:
1. Put the butter or margarine, sugar and golden syrup into a saucepan and stir over a low heat until the fat and sugar have melted.
2. Add the porridge oats and blend thoroughly.
3. Press into a well greased 18cm square sandwich tin.
4. Bake in the centre of a moderate oven at 180c or 350f or gas mark 4 for 25 minutes or until evenly golden brown.
5. Mark into fingers whilst warm.
6. Allow to become almost cold in the tin before removing.
7. Enjoy!
To make chocolate flapjacks:
Prepare flapjack mixture as above. Cool slightly then add 50g of chopped chocolate pieces before putting into the sandwich tin.

They turned out well, not sure they need 25 mins though so may reduce that next time. I tried them warm and they were all chewy which I love... The really test will be tomorrow on my way home from work!

Well, they are in the oven. I used for the chocolate, broken up Divine dark chocolate Easter egg (I cant believe we still had one!) and used a mix of oats and oatmeal (as I have loads of it for some reason). I didn't have a square tin, so its in a round one.

Hmmm, not what I expected at all. They are not chewy, but quite hard - solid and crunchy. Perhaps I put too much chocolate and also the oatmeal made a difference? They taste a bit burnt too, but I only put them in for 20 mins.

I only cook mine for 12 mins-and the texture is great. Recipe from what I recall, is different, so will double check it.

I gave it another try without the chocolate and oatmeal and made a bit more so it wasn't so thin, but still very hard! I cooked for 12 mins and it was still liquidy, so put it back for 5 mins! I don't know whats going wrong!
