I love it,  take today expected 6 and with neighbours catered for 12!! I love the social (in the house) life that food has given us wherever we go by the way i dread the christmas bash as the portions are full on and just the aperitfs would fill me up

I agree that 14 courses at Xmas is pretty overwhelming! What kind of things do you have?
We love simply the traditional main course, with heaps of veggies, and actually find we would rather have seconds of that, than have a starter. This year, we're skipping the starter, and wading straight into platter fulls of the main course!

We never have had more than 2 courses....this year will be main course (Goose) and as none of us like Christmas pudding, I'm sure we'll choose some rather nice gateaux at the HyperU  q9

Then, that'll be me stuffed, and I will struggle to join Mark (and Jo and Phil) for Turkey and chestnut stuffing sandwiches  q21

when i do mine for the new year the courses will be more amuse bouche BUT I am afraid the french courses are FULL ON !! last year we turned up for christmas eve and the table was heaving with food .................okay I thought buffet I can cope with this we have until about 5 in the morning to get through it .......BUT.................. it was just the aperos  q20 every course was full scale ..what a waste ..we came back christmas day to try and finsih it and still food was left over  q9 my courses are scaled down in size and I am trying to go for quality and presentation to win the day but am panicking as i have just mislaid the menu  q5 last night went great we had a power cut about an hour before the meal so we lit the small barbie and would habe had it in the doorway with a skillet on it for the barbied stuff the mongolian hotpot was okay as it was in the fondue sets .
