ApplesI have an abundance of apples. Having given away at least 6 carrier bags full, I have so far peeled & cooked three washing basket full. With some of those I have made apple pies and crumbles. But me thinks in time my OH will be sick and tired of this.
Have most things in pantry, but what I haven't got I will buy to make some other things with APPLES.
Any suggestions - BTW they are great apples for cooking, but not Bramley. PS. Not baking apples please - they are to come when I pick the big ones off the tree. I am only on windfalls at the moment. Thanks

A few jars of chutney wouldn't go amiss. Do a huge batch if you can-always great to donate to charities for coffee morning raffles, etc.
Or if you feel up to it, a mega huge batch, and sell it yourself!

What about cider? Or Mum has been making Apple Jelly!! She's probably better at answering this one as she had loads of apples too!

Elaine, great minds think alike as I was going to suggest chutney, my grandad used to make this. I also like Jo's suggestion of apple jelly, that sounds really yummy. What about apple sauce for having with pork?

No, not apple sauce, we have stewed apple galore. Like the idea of apple jelly, but what do you use it with - on toast???

Oooh! thanks Jerseygirl - don't know whether I would have the patience for the black butter. But like the idea of your first suggestion - all the recipes with apples.

I have kept over the last 12 months, every Flora and Icecream container which amount to an awful lot stacked in the top of my cupboard. Now its empty of containers.........we have peeled, cored, sliced, & slightly stewed, let go cold, and packed in containers and put in freezer - 3 washing basket full, 2 buckets, and 3 small buckets of apples........urgh.. Since starting this exercise, we have eater 2 Eves Puddings, and at least 6 crumbles and we are still on the windfalls. Got to pick the good apples and bake and freeze some of these. Thank goodness I have a large chest freezer.
