Haven't posted in ages, but can anybody recommend a good, reliable and long lasting tin opener? I've gone through a good half dozen in the last year, expensive and cheap, and it's only a matter of time until they all start skidding, stiffen up + stop cutting...

(Poor old Wally sometimes has to wait a ridiculously long time while I try + penetrate his tuna tin....!!)

I've always found the standard tin opener to be ok, I have two at the moment, and both are fine... although I don't tend to open tins much now most have the ring pulls.

"They don't make them like they used to". I rarely use tin-but have gone through 3 openers in less than 2 years. q9  Have no idea why this should be happening-they seem to move out of alignment and so won't open. I got a pair from M+S a couple of months ago, and already they're becoming a struggle-so sorry Annie-can't recommend anywhere, but can sympathise.

Want to say something along the lines of "do you think the tins are different", but that sounds silly...

I got bought a tupperware one as a pressie ( I use tins to make bread in ) and this turns the top of the tin over so you cannot cut yourself its quite easy to use and has a lifetime (I think) guarantee  q5

That's still a bit pricey, but my chap ruins them in weeks - he's so heavy handed he bends the 'arms' together.  I've moaned at him so much he'd rather I buy ring-pull tins now!  q9

With this one no arm leverage required, just place on tin and push the button.
