Is coming to call, every Saturday, between 12.45-1.15. Parking in the square in which we live, and laden down with goodies, guaranteeing that their prices will be lower than the organic produce in Sainsbury's. Am rather excited at this (sad, I know). I used to use the organic veg boxes, but hated having no control over the contents...and being swamped nearly every week with wild garlic! They will also have fruit/eggs/cheese, and some other local delicacies.

I suspect that they'll do a roaring trade. Jennifer and Iain have already said that they'll likely pop around when it's here-or give mother a list! So much easier for Jen in particular, who normally food shops on her way home from work, which she admits she doesn't really enjoy-she usually just wants to get home, although in fairness, working in the same place as her partner, they travel together, and so should theoretically be able to shop only once or so a week-theoretically....

It's a bit like reverting to the old style of shopping-all I need now is a fish van-although to be fair, I have an excellent and helpful fishmonger only 10 mins away, so no complaints on that score!

Wish I had something like that Elaine... The Uni did have a veg market once a week for a while, but don't think they do anymore.  The only shop I have access to during the working week is Tesco, which isn't ideal.  I always have to do the other sort of shopping at the weekends when I'm maybe busy or not wanting to go out, but maybe cook instead.

The van sounds like a lovely idea Elaine...and yes, back to how it was when we were children.  We have a veg van (probably not organic) fish van and bread van, but I don't use them.

Brings back memories of the SS Grocer van that used to call in my road in my pre 7 years  q5  q5  I remember it had sweets, cos we used to go and nick them when the driver wasn't looking  q8  q8

That's a great idea! We have a lot of options of the organic fruit & veg box schemes in our area, but this would be ideal so you can actually select things yourself.
