|
|
After a quiet few months, it’s competition time again. The Foodies Forum will be celebrating it’s first birthday on Tuesday 29th April.
This time, the winner will be chosen by the Moderators, and we’re a tough bunch to impress!
So, what we need is, a Limerick with food and birthdays as the theme. As usual, there will be prizes, and this time, there will be a 1st prize and a runner-up prize….if we can save up enough pennies to buy them!
1st Prize
Hotel Chocolat Tasting Club - Membership for 1 month
You stand on the threshold of an adventure. The exciting and delicious world of real chocolate beckons. We think it is still something of a “secret world”, for the vast majority of chocolate consumed in the UK today is low on cocoa solids and high on sugar, with added nasties like hydrogenated vegetable fats, artificial flavourings and colourings. And that’s anything but REAL chocolate. So if you want to escape that world and come to ours, then become a member of the Hotel Chocolat Tasting Club.
Runner-up Prize
The Curry Companion by Sonja Patel
The curry has created some of the strongest cravings in culinary history and has become the greatest excuse for consuming - and the best method of recovering from - copious quantities of ice-cold lager. Heavily adapted from Indian recipes, it may no longer resemble its origins, but it sizzles with a style of its own. "The Curry Companion" follows the spice-trail on its worldwide journey from India all the way to Bradford and Brick Lane, showing how several distinctive combinations of fulsome flavours have colonised the most discerning palettes throughout a variety of countries. It reveals the secrets of the spices, the brains behind the blends and demonstrates that, with the ingredients so widely available, the key to a cracking curry may be at anyone's fingertips. From this gastronomic gazetteer we will discover: the world's biggest curry hot-spots; how the tikka-masala became Britain's national dish; how the spice trade conquered the world; the most famous purveyors of piquancy; the world's best curry houses; the most reputable recipes; and the future path of the spice trail.
TO ENTER
Simply make up your food/birthday themed limerick and post it onto this thread. The closing date for entries is Saturday 26th April... The winners will be announced on our 1st birthday, Tuesday 29th April.
Good luck!!!!

| Can you have more than one go! Or does your first limerick have to be just perfect. |

Ooh, hadn't thought of that scenario.
I know we'll discuss it when Jo gets home from work, but I guess it could be a bit like the Risi awards....maybe the entrant nominates the limerick they want to go forward for the judges to judge??
