I'll probably forget to be honest, I always do... I suppose if I had kids then I would have to make an effort to remember.  q5

I always sprinkle a few currents on mine whilst it is cooking, and then serve with the traditional lemon juice and sugar.

Regards,

White,

PS Please don't tell my wife, but I also usually sneak one out liberally slathered with Nutella as a treat!

I  might do some later, as a treat for us.  I never remember on Shrove Tuesday.  I like them with lemon and sugar.

I might buy some ice cream whilst I am out and have them with that too.

Oh dear, Le regime sometimes has to take a back seat  q5

For savoury, I much prefer Staffordshire Oatcakes, as sold in the Potteries, (and in our local supermarkets). Recipe here:- http://www.allotment.org.uk/recip...-for-north-staffordshire-oatcake/

These are great slung in the frying pan after the eggs and bacon, and a real weekend treat. I have also used them like pasta sheets to make lasagne type dishes, rolled and filled with cheese and popped under the grill, etc. etc.

Regards,

White.

I agree White. I'm a recent convert to the oatcakes, and think they're wonderful. We brought a few packs back from Chatsworth (just name dropping....), which I seperated and froze individually. Good idea about using as a pasta substitute.
