Mum took me here while I was there on holiday... here's a link to their website - http://www.aurefuge.fr - it's in French!

We had the set lunch meal (plat du jour), we had a choice between salmon I think, a salad or fillet steak... we both went for the steak! We also had half a bottle of rose wine to go with the food. What you got was a nice sized steak, tagliatelle, leek, aubergine and a grilled tomato. It was lovely and I could have easily eaten it all over again...

We both had icecream for dessert, I had caramel which had bits of fudge in it... yum! Also had coffee to try and sober us (sorry me) up from the wine...

The whole bill came to 23 Euros, which is probably what you'd pay for 1 person in this country.

The service was great, very friendly and they spoke English which was handy when we didn't know what the choices were. It's a lovely little restaurant, we sat outside in a kind of courtyard, there are pictures on their website.

We'd been here intitially the week before with some other visitors. It was a lovely meal and so cheap, even in French standards. The waiter/waitress are also the owners I think and they are very welcoming, hard working and freindly. Sadly, when we went back with another friend after dropping Jo for the train on Tuesday, they were closed. I asked if they would be open at midday and they said no, sorry, something about an accident.
We will return next time we're in Poitiers.

We're going here tomorrow, and hoping it will be open.  It wasn't last time we went with some friends in late October.

We've been here several times, over the past few months, and it is always lovely food.

Yesterday we had Plat du Jour again (there is always a choice of 3) and an entree, 1/2 caraf of a Merlot and cafe each.

We both had the entree which was a salad with dark lettuce, egg, cheese, walnuts and a balsamic dressing. Lovely, fresh start.

Mark had Tartiflette which he enjoyed, along with more greenery!
I had Salmon, beautifully cooked (slightly underdone in the middle) with a creamy shrimp sauce, creamed celeriac, boiled endive, grilled tomato and a small amount of potato cooked in a lot of oil. Oh and fried savoy cabbage (yummy!)
35.00 euros, so about £25.00. A lovely way to keep us warm whilst we continued our day of shopping in very cold Poitiers.

We're planning to have an evening meal here on 23rd December....will book it I think, to be sure of a table.  This will be the first time we have eaten here during the evening.

It won't be as cheap as the "midi" menu, but in comparison to what you'd pay for an evening meal in the UK, I bet it'll be loads cheaper.
