My taste buds seem to be very subdued at the moment, and all types of food are bordering on tasteless. I'm adding salt-something I very rarely do-but is there anything else I can try to pep things up a bit, other than the obvious?

Even a box of very expensive chocolates tasted bland, and I couldn't have told you which flavours they were meant to be. Such a waste!

Adding dark chocolate to meat dishes is meant to enhance the flavour.  Anything spicy (chilli, pepper etc) may not be good for your bowels)

Personally, I think you'll be fighting an uphill battle, since it's your taste buds that are not working.  Anything you add isn't really going to make them work.

Ah well, may as well op for quantity over quality....

Have now developed a "need" for beetroot, as well as tomato, so might do some googling to see what they contain, as it may be that I'm craving them for a reason. Maybe they repair taste buds?! Chocolate doesn't repair taste buds, trust me... q9

Beetroot, yummy, tomatoes too.  They're both Superfoods, and without Googling, I can't tell you what they contain.
Okay, I am Googling...

I think the detox element is what your body might be craving with the beetroot!

Captrice, I have advanced metastatic cancer which is being treated with high dosage chemotherapy and herceptin. Unfortunately, loss of taste is just one of the numerous side effects to the range of drugs I need.

So, Mrs D, did you eat loads of beetroot and tomatoes?  Did they meet your need, or are you still craving more?

Still eating them-and lots of other things too!
Taste is still very depressed but not too concerned. Brian's Mum was concerned it would put me off eating-but it doesn't seem to have done that!
