This is a lovely German Christmas market, it is held in Millenium Square in the centre of Leeds and we have been for the last 3 years, we visited this year last Saturday.

There are lots of nik nak type stalls selling hats, bags, candles, jewellery and toys but the main attraction (for us at least!) are the food stalls and the beer/wine lodges, there are crepes, garlic breads, stollen, chocolate covered fruits and my fave - german sausages (yum) - you can try before you buy on most stalls too!

The little wooden lodges/beer tents sell a selection of german beers, hot chocolate (with or without fruit shots) and lovely gluwein or hot rum toddy-type drink. There is a burger stall and also a big bar b q which sells german hot dogs/spicy sausage in french bread (mmm)

It is well worth a visit, Free entry and there are a few rides for the kids, Dodgems, a carousel and some 'grabber' machines too q15

Sounds lovely.

We're going into Poitiers next week, and the Christmas Market will be there by then.  An Ice Skating rink in front of the City Hall, and loads of stalls around, and spreading out down the shopping streets.  I don't recall seeing beer/wine and food stalls as you describe, but lots of gifts and there will definately be chocolate in some form or other, after all, c'est La France  q5

WE even have a Christmas market in Canterbury... it looked quite like the European markets I've been to in the past, I might venture there next weekend if I can be bothered with the bus.
