I am just having a salad for my lunch:  Pick and come again lettuce leaves from my patio, and yellow cherry tomatoes, cucumber, green pepper, spring onions all from the hedge veg opposite. The only thing that travelled more than 50 metres is the ham!!

I have no idea how far some of mine has travelled but do know that the Smoked Trout was left for us by visitors  q3  q3
Cucumber from my garden.  Pitta breads don't know, lettuce don't know, tomatoes from the garden, onions from the garden.

You certainly are. Am so often shocked and amazed at where food comes from, but admit that I'm not as careful as I could be at checking. Bad Elaine!

You're not bad, I don't check where mine comes from.  I will check more now it has been highlighted though.

what does not come from our garden comes from our neighbours !!! q5 I dont know if its the same where you lot are but when people have an excess they just stick a board out the front  q5 and then our local farm shop grows all his own stuff but for the unusual if I fancy it I am afraid I will buy it,  life would not be the same with cajun roasted sweet pots

I don't have a garden, but I do grow what I can in borders and pots.

I'm reading Leo Hickman's book "A Life Stripped Bare" at the mo, and it's got me looking at the food labels in more detail.

It is often quite difficult to buy local or even British.  I can't always get to the pannier market and we do have a lot of organic box-delivery firms around, but they are very expensive.  I am avoiding stuff from miles away, particularly opressive regimes, and try to stick with produce that's in season.  We do go to a pick-your-own place but not often in the winter - it's too cold tramping through muddy fields!

The Co-op are probably one of the more ethical supermarkets, so I may shop there more often.
