|
|
I bought 2 packs for frozen figs from Tesco as they were on offer and very cheap. Really like figs so thought I could do something nice with them... thing is I don't know what to do!
I have all the basic stuff in the cupboards like flour, sugar etc... any ideas??
As it's a bit quiet in here while I'm without broadband and Elaine is on hols I won't hold out much hope for a quick response so will wait for whatever comes my way in replies... :lol: _________________ Positive Change |

| I have never thought of figs in recipes - I have always just bought a packet of the soft type and snacked. So can't help. |

Thanks for the link Angie, many of them were fresh figs so not really sure what to do with my frozen ones... What do you reckon about a tart of some sort?
I have some puff pastry in the freezer, maybe I could do something with that too! I'm in no rush but would love some other ideas... :) _________________ Positive Change |

| I too have only eaten fresh in salads and dried with breakfast or fig biscuits which I adored as a child ! |

Found this whilst looking for Strawberry Liqueur recipe
Fig or Date Liqueur Recipe
* 2 1/2 cups (1 pound) choped, pitted figs or dates
(or combine 1 cup each for a date-fig liqueur)
* 2 cups vodka
* 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar syrup
If the fruit you have is dried, you must first reconstitute it. Put a cup or so of water into a sauce pan. Boil water, add dried fruits. Cover, turn off heat and let fruits plump in hot water for about 5 minutes. Drain off water.
Cut fruit into smaller pieces with scissors or a sharp knife. Place cooled fruit in vodka for 2 weeks, shaking occasionally. Strain and filter. Add sugar suryp to taste.
The fruits are naturally very sweet, so be very sparing with your syrup. |

I still have my frozen figs, most of the recipes need fresh figs so I'm not sure whether to use them...
Wonder if anyone can think of anything I can make, I have some puff pastry in the freezer, maybe I could make a strudel or something?! Have no idea where to start though... :lol:
