I bought a large bag of dates when they were on offer at Julian Graves, I made some low fat flapjack type stuff which was horrible and now I don't know what to do with them? Does anyone have any nice recipes? They have quite a long shelf life (till March 08) so I am not desperate!

I know this calls for Madjool dates but I'm sure it would be just as good with the ordinary ones

You'll be off that diet one day Kathy and as a little treat it won't harm just to have one.  Cover your eyes until that day arrives and think of all the weight you've lost already - well done you.

A lifestyle change depends on building in some treats - or one day you'll crack; eat everything in sight and decide that healthy living is not for you.

People who have @@@@normal'''' eating habits don't worry if now and again they eat a lot on one day - the next day they carry on as though nothing had happened - and they are right.   Making some foods forbidden means that if you eat forbidden foods you have 'broken' your resonlve and may as well give up.

Eating more than enough calories one day occasionally means just that - and no more!

We're doing that Helen...we're out for lunch on Sunday, and will eat what is on offer and enjoy the choice.  But I'm not cooking things that we wouldn't normally eat.  So, I'm having a bit of a joke with Trisha really, as we don't normally eat sticky toffee things when we're not eating healthily  q5
