6oz plain flour
1/2 tsp bicarb soda
pinch of salt
2 1/2 oz butter (marg!)
3oz granulated sugar
2oz soft brown sugar (or double quantity of granulated)
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1 egg
5oz coarsely grated choc
Stir together flour, bicarb + salt. Beat the butter, sugars and vanilla essence together. Add the egg and beat well. Gradually add the flour mixture, beating well. Add in the choc.
Drop rounded teaspoons of the mixture onto an ungreased baking tray. Bake in pre-heated moderately hot oven (190c/375F, Gas mark5) for about 7-8 mins, or until lightly brown
Cool slightly before removing to rack or they will be soft too move.
(For cookie like texture, cook for a minute or so less. Biscuit for full 7-8 mins) |
