I have added a new banner at the bottom of the page, it's all about Hugh's Chicken Run programme that's been shown this week on Channel 4. I did have a big one with sound but it got irritating... so I have changed it to a small one, that's why I am making this announcement, so you can go and sign-up!

I thought it might be good to post on this thread whenever you buy free-range chicken, to see how many of us are supporting the campaign...
I'm on the search for some later, may have to try M&S as the Tesco in Canterbury is a bit naff with things like this. _________________ Positive Change |

don't need to buy any for awhile as got a butchers box from the butcher who supplies us at work for xmas-10 pork chops, 10 chix breasts gratis-but will be buying free range when i next need meat-like hugh said its only a couple of quid dearer and that works out at only a quid more per person in my house which aint really that unreasonable....
that said personally i do wonder how much it matters when you are only gonna eat them anyway at the end but agree it is probably more humane to give the chicks a better life while they are alive...and many people do say you can taste the difference.
personally i've never tried free range because there is this whole perception that free range is much more expensive- no doubt helped by the media which has now apparently turned tail and changed their views rather rapidly oin last couple of days |

I haven't bought chicken since August, and we have run out of our own birds. You have to try to believe the difference.
I have 3 chicks 6 weeks away from slaughter and have put 5 eggs in the incubator tonight (that's all there were at this time of the year) and they'll be ready for slaughter in 15 weeks. My plan is to have more than enough chickens in the freezer this year, as last year was our first time and an experiment.
