Went to another Cafe Rouge last night, this is the 3rd I've been to this year and the food didn't disappoint yet again... I started with a large glass of wine (Chenin Blanc) and then Daniel insisted he wanted olives, I tasted a couple but they make me squirm so he ate the rest... We both then had the 12oz rib eye steak with herb/garlic butter, fries, tomatoes and mushrooms. My steak was lovely and it satisfied me much more than the 7oz I had in London in June! For dessert we did ask for the special which was peach and redcurrant icecream with raspberry coulis but after 10 minutes of waiting we were told someone had ordered the last lot at the same time as us... They didn't tell us why we didn't get it and the others did! So I opted for creme brulee which was delicious and Daniel had a fruit crumble and vanilla icecream.
The service was ok, to start with one of the waitresses wouldn't leave us alone which started to wind me up, but then towards the end of the meal when we wanted our dessert and the bill she was nowhere to be seen!! The bill was £47, not bad for the amount of food we consumed, plus my large glass of wine which was £5...
Will go back again as we had a lovely meal in there! _________________ Positive Change |

Sounds scrummy.
I've only been to one Cafe Rouge and that was in Sevenoaks, probably over 9 years ago.....a couple of times maybe.
Wonderful food as I recall and good service. _________________ http://positivechange.myfreeforum.org/index.php

I'm quite a fan of Cafe Rouge, I use the restaurant in Soho quite a bit and also Bromley, Sevenoaks and West Malling. Thought about trying the one in Canters a couple of weeks ago but it was packed and we were seduced by the nearby Greek restaurant (Manolis?) instead.
Always find Cafe Rouge to be consistantly good value for money. |
