I haven't made this for years...........its still in oz and lbs. (whoops we are not allowed to use these now are we)....oh well hope someone can, you know.......into grams.
Three quarters lb mixed fruit
4oz margarine
8oz granulated sugar
1 teaspoon mixed spice
1 teaspoon bicarbonate soda
13 and a half tin crushed pineapple
8oz SR flour
pinch of salt
2 eggs
Melt in saucepan - margarine, sugar, then fruit, spice, bicarb, pineapple and boil for three minutes. When cool add flour, pinch salt and eggs. Put in 8" tin. Cook one and half to two hours on No 2 - 3 gas (wow this does show its age - sorry guys no idea what temperature that could be - but I can say these boiled fruit cakes (if you like fruit) are so moist, easy to cut and delicious, especially if left in the tin a couple days).
I have also got a recipe for boiled fruit cake - unfortunately not the old grannys recipe, because somehow I lost that, but one that is probably equally as good from the 80s). :smt020 |

I do hope that is not 13 and a half tins of pineapple  as it might make it a bit expensive and I do fancy trying this lol
I have bought scales with both metric and imperial weights on so I can use any recipe  |

Good observation - no I was not tipsy :sleepy1: - just tired - it should be 13 and half oz. (normal size tin I would imagine). |

Listening to the news on the radio this evening, with only half an ear so probably got it wrong, but I think it said we can use imperial if we want to and they cant make us use metric :D :D :D
