I believe it is really important for families to sit down together and eat. When we do we have really good chats about the day and a good laugh.

It was always one of my priorities when the kids were younger. Not only is it fun, but it also encourages them to try foods that they might otherwise miss for a while. Think it also encourages better manners. If we had relatives over for a meal, and wanted to linger at the table, whilst not expecting the kids to stay rooted at the table with us-they knew to ask permission to leave the table, and not simply get up and wander off.
It was only when they got much older that they were allowed to eat anywhere other than at the table! So many of their friends were allowed to wander off with their food, or eat in front of tv.Didn't like that at all! |
