Your Gran had a microwave, makes you very young, we had our first one, and very expensive at the time (£500) for a very basic model, in 1986.

£500-phew! That's expensive by today's prices, so hate to think how much it was then.

How they've fallen in price-you can now get a very basic model for about £30!

Yes we thought it would be an answer to all sorts of things having a daughter and her new baby living with us. It finished up as a very expensive milk warmer and defroster for the baby meals we made in bulk.

Aaargh! Have to say I have a very basic model, as I use it mainly for defrosting, or partially coking baked potatoes (before finishing them off in the oven-much quicker!)Sometimes ("often"), it also gets used for rewarming Brian's coffee. He'll pour a cup and then forget about it!
